Canterbury Nightline is a student run service. By working this way, we ensure that when a student calls for advice they are supported by another student who understands what they are going through. To provide this service we need a number of students who are willing to volunteer their time to help others. Full training is given so the main requirement for these roles is a willingness to listen, an ability to empathise and an open mind. If this sounds like you get in touch today.
All prospective listening volunteers are required to attend a 1-hour group info session so that we can make sure you are the right fit for Nightline. If successful, you will then be invited to a 2-day training session.
All volunteers working for Nightline are provided with ongoing training to ensure that you are as effective as possible in your role and are continuously developing your skill-set. Each role is designed to ensure you get the support and training you need while you gain skills and experience to make you more employable. With this in mind there are lots of opportunities for progression within the organisation.
All volunteers are fully supported, and volunteer welfare is at the heart of what we do. To find out more you can read our volunteer welfare policy here.
If you do wish to get involved, here is the role description for the Listening Volunteer role.
